About St Enodoc's Church, Trebetherick
St Enodoc’s Church, Trebetherick is a Church of England chapel within St Minver parish, near Polzeath in Cornwall. Set amid coastal dunes by the Camel estuary, it is listed at Grade I. Blown sand almost engulfed the chapel for several centuries, and worshippers sometimes entered through an opening in its roof.
Surviving masonry reaches back to about the 12th century, followed by alterations in the 1200s and 1400s. Rubble stone walls carry slate-covered roofs, while the layout includes a nave, chancel, southern aisle, porch and northern transept. The tower occupies an uncommon position on the north side and has two levels beneath a modest broach spire. James Piers St Aubyn oversaw restoration in 1863–64 after the sand was removed. Inside are a Norman-era granite font and the remaining lower section of a medieval rood screen.
