About St Bridget's Church, Morvah
St Bridget’s Church, Morvah is an active Church of England parish church in Morvah, Cornwall, within the Diocese of Truro. It is protected as a Grade II listed building, having been entered on the National Heritage List in 1954. Morvah was formerly a chapelry associated with the parish of Madron.
A chapel dedicated to St Bridget was recorded in 1390, and the Bishop of Exeter authorised worship at the church in September 1400. Although the dedication has often been linked with Bridget of Sweden, evidence suggests that it may instead refer to an Irish saint, possibly Brigid of Kildare. The medieval tower survives, while the nave and chancel date from a rebuilding completed in 1828. Three bells hang in the tower: one cast in 1799 and two dating from 1828.
