About St Bartholomew's Church, Lostwithiel

St Bartholomew’s Church, Lostwithiel is an active Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Truro, serving the town of Lostwithiel in Cornwall. Dating from the medieval period, it is protected as a Grade I listed building and now belongs to a joint benefice with six nearby churches and chapels.

The tower, built during the thirteenth century, is the oldest surviving section. An early fourteenth-century spire of Pentewan stone rises above it, while most of the remaining structure was completed later that century. Notable details include a clerestory over the nave, a five-light east window, Georgian memorials and a brass dated 1423. The richly carved medieval font depicts animals, human figures and foliage. A substantial restoration in 1878–79 introduced an open timber roof and renewed floors. The organ incorporates pipes made in 1828 and was later enlarged and restored, while six bells cast in 1924 hang in the tower.
