About Madron Parish Church

Madron Parish Church is a Church of England parish church in Heamoor, Cornwall. Historically, it served as the principal church for Morvah and Penzance as well as Madron. It remains the local parish church and is protected as a Grade I listed building.

Consecrated by the Bishop of Exeter in 1336, the church was largely constructed during the fifteenth century, while the chancel incorporates earlier work dating from the fourteenth century. The building was completed around 1500, when the north aisle was funded by the vicar Benedict Tregos and embellished with Tudor roses and royal arms. Surviving features include old carved bench ends, a disused font bowl believed to be Norman, and a 1623 memorial brass to John Clies and his family. A nineteenth-century restoration replaced the former pews, installed heating and lighting, and renewed the chancel floor. The church also has an eight-bell peal and a two-manual pipe organ made by Hele and Company.
