About Church of St Mary the Virgin
The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Church of England parish church in Braddock, Cornwall. It remains part of a shared benefice with churches and chapels in Boconnoc, St Winnow, St Veep, Lanlivery and Lostwithiel. The church is protected as a Grade I listed building.
Although its origins are associated with the medieval period, the present structure developed between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. A Norman font survives, alongside notable carved woodwork including decorated bench ends, sections of the rood screen, wagon roofs and an Elizabethan pulpit. Two further carved panels may date from the eighteenth century. The tower houses five bells cast in 1845 by Charles and George Mears, while the organ was made in 1885 by the London builder Henry Jones.
