About Boconnoc Church
Boconnoc Church serves as the Church of England parish church for Boconnoc in Cornwall. Now recognised as a Grade I listed building, it received national heritage protection in August 1964. The parish shares a benefice with Anglican churches and chapels in Lanlivery, St Winnow, St Veep, Braddock and Lostwithiel.
Although its fabric developed between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, with 1350 given as its construction date, extensive restoration took place in 1873. The layout comprises the main worship space, an aisle and porch to the south, and a northern chapel. At the south-west corner is a turret rather than a conventional tower. A structure added in 1877 rises from a five-sided lower stage to an eight-sided upper section. Interior furnishings include a fifteenth-century font, Jacobean preaching pulpit, musicians’ gallery and a communion table crafted by Sir Reginald Mohun in 1621. Memorials commemorate Penelope Mohun, who died in 1637, and Will Drew’s wife.
