About Church of St Protus and St Hyacinth

The Church of St Protus and St Hyacinth is a Church of England parish church in Blisland, Cornwall. Dating from about 1150, it remains part of a shared parish with churches in Temple, St Breward and Helland. The building is protected at Grade I.

Norman work survives in the nave and northern transept. During an enlargement in the 15th century, a six-bay arcade, south aisle, porch, transept chapel, wagon roof, additional font and tower were introduced. F. C. Eden directed a restoration costing £1,300 in 1894, while the rector oversaw work to the chancel. A memorial window by the London firm Bucknall and Comper was installed at the eastern end of the southern chancel aisle. Further restoration involved Ninian Comper. The interior also contains a brass commemorating John Balsam, a former rector, dating from the early 1400s.
