About St. Joseph's Catholic Church
St. Joseph's Catholic Church stands at 63 Conway Road in Colwyn Bay, within Conwy County Borough. It is the Roman Catholic parish church for Colwyn Bay and belongs to the Diocese of Wrexham. The church is protected as a Grade II-listed building while continuing to serve its parish community.
Construction began in 1898 and the building was finished in 1900, following a design by R. Curran. Monsignor James Lennon, who came from Lancashire, provided the funds as a memorial to his brother, Dean John Lennon. A Catholic primary school was later established in 1933 within the church grounds on Brackley Avenue. It is a voluntary aided school connected with the church.
