About St David's Welsh Church, Colwyn Bay
St David's Welsh Church, Colwyn Bay stands on Rhiw Road in Colwyn Bay, Conwy, to the rear of St Paul’s Church. It remains an Anglican place of worship within the Diocese of St Asaph, where services are conducted in Welsh. The church is protected as a Grade II listed structure.
Construction took place in 1902 and 1903 to designs by the Chester architectural practice of Douglas and Minshull, whose partners included John Douglas. Small in scale, the building has a sanctuary ending in an apse and a western window in the Perpendicular style. Above the roof is a square bellcote, capped by a pyramidal roof and a slender eight-sided spirelet. Inside, the screen was crafted by David Jones, a blacksmith from the local area.
