About Church of All Saints, Sawtry
The Church of All Saints, Sawtry is a Church of England place of worship in the Cambridgeshire village of Sawtry, within Huntingdonshire. It is protected as a Grade II listed building, a designation granted on 28 January 1958.
The present church was consecrated by the Bishop of Ely on 14 September 1880. It replaced the former All Saints’ and St Andrew’s churches, which were taken down so that their materials could be incorporated into the new building. Designed by Arthur Blomfield in the Early Decorated Gothic style, it comprises a nave and chancel, with a turret at the west end housing a single bell once owned by Sawtry Abbey. Notable features include stained glass in the chancel and a brass depicting three figures, dated April 1404. The churchyard also contains a war memorial, positioned to the left of the entrance.
