About Parish Church of St Mary
The Parish Church of St Mary is an active Church of England parish church in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire. Dating from around 1150, it holds Grade I listed status and continues to serve the local parish.
Norman work from the 12th century survives from the period when Rochester’s Benedictine abbey controlled the parish. Some elements may be older and connected with an earlier Saxon building, including a font marked with a dragon design. The Early English Gothic tower was added in the later 13th century, while the aisles were reconstructed during the 14th century. Extensive work in 2008 repaired the roof and provided a kitchen, vestry and crèche. An electric organ was also installed to replace a 1916 Norman and Beard instrument that had arrived at the church in 1967.
