About Crofts End Church
Crofts End Church is a nonconformist Christian congregation in the Crofts End area of St George, Bristol. It belongs to the Bristol City Mission Society, which is a registered charity. Andrew Yelland serves as pastor, continuing the church’s work in the local community.
The church began in 1895 through George Brown, a young miner who believed God had directed him to provide Christian ministry for impoverished local children, many of whom lacked adequate clothing and shoes. It was previously called the Miner's Mission and later Crofts End Mission. A church building dating from the 1960s was scheduled to be demolished in 2016, with plans for a replacement place of worship and a community hub.
