About St Luke's Church, Maidenhead

St Luke's Church, Maidenhead is an active Anglican parish church in Maidenhead, Berkshire. It is protected as a Grade II listed building and remains the town’s largest church. Its size has also made it a venue for two recordings of the television programme Songs of Praise.

William Wilberforce consecrated the church in 1866. The London architect George Row Clarke designed the building, which was constructed by James Griffiths of Eldersfield for £3,500. The tower followed in 1869, while the spire was completed in 1894. More recent changes have included glazed entrance doors and a servery at the western end, together with refurbished kitchen and toilet facilities. The former Parish Centre has also been adapted to provide a vestry and office.
